One fine morning as the founders were jogging across Shaheed park as per their weekly routine. Mr. Abdullah who was recently in Nepal for the purpose of a business trip discussed his encounter of a rare collection of pashmina shawls which he had purchased for his wife. He described it to be one of the softest, most luxurious he had ever seen and his wife had absolutely fell in love with it. He spoke to his companion about the proposition he was ignited with, of trading them in the kuwait market. Upon hearing this, their wives challenged them saying they would not be able to do it. They took up the challenge immediately to prove their wives wrong. With no further delay they started planning to put their idea into effect.
After a clear market research, it came to their knowledge that there was no market for pashmina where customers could have an opportunity to buy the best quality wool in the world. Pashmina and cashmere were being sold on Instagram but there was no guarantee of it being 100% pure.
At Lleene, we guarantee our customers will receive 100% pure Pashmina products.
On the 25th of august 2016 “lleene “was a name which was agreed on to based on the strategy that the founders wanted to keep this project lean instead of jumping onto a massive project which would demand a large amount of capital that could lead to the loss of finances. Extravagantly spending on the project did not seem significant enough for its progress and growth.
Astonishingly, “lleene” is pronounced the same way in both English and Arabic.
Pashmina is a fine type of cashmere wool. Pashmina, meaning "made from wool" and literally translates to "Soft Gold". The wool comes from Nepalese Pashmina goat from Nepal. These shawls are hand spun, and woven in Nepal, and made from fine cashmere fibre.
The Pashmina goat sheds its winter coat every spring. One goat sheds approximately 80–170 g (3–6 ounces) of the fibre. In the spring (the moulting season), the goats naturally shed their under fleece, which regrows in winter. This under fleece is collected by combing the goat, not by shearing, as in other fine wools.
The approximate craft time put into producing a single Pashmina stole (70x200cm) is 180 hours.
Pashmina Shawls are original works of art. Every single one of our last of a kind Pashmina Shawls are handmade by Artisans who spend as much as two years to complete just one wrap. These Artisans have Pashmina Shawl-making literally in their blood.
